VAD Concept International has launched the FuturePPC I and IK series of its own brand of particularly robust industrial panel PCs for continuous use in manufacturing and process automation.
Munich, March 18, 2025 – Neither steam cleaners nor vandalism can seriously harm the panel PCs of the IK series from FuturePPC: the devices are completely protected against shocks, dirt and water and are IP69K certified. They meet the highest hygiene standards, withstand high-pressure washing with harsh cleaning agents and are therefore ideally suited for use in the food, pharmaceutical or chemical industries.
By contrast, the FuturePPC I series, which does not have steam-jet certification but is just as waterproof and tough on the front, is ideal for applications with strict budget requirements. The Munich-based VAD Concept International now also has the two particularly robust device series of its own brand for use as a human-machine interface or for system maintenance at temperatures from minus 20 to plus 70 degrees Celsius in its range with the 12th and 13th Intel Core-i generation.
The capacitive, IP66-certified PCAP touchscreens of the I-Series in their robust aluminum housings are waterproof at the front and can be installed in control cabinets with rubber lips for protection and operated easily even when wet and with nitrile gloves. A pressure-sensitive display is optionally available for use with thick gloves, for example in cold stores. IK07 protection guarantees particularly high impact resistance for all capacitive displays.
The possible monitor brightness ranges from 350 candela per square meter for indoor use to 1,500 candela for outdoor use in strong sunlight, for example at toll booths or access stations. The displays are optionally optically bonded, which optimizes readability in very bright environments, improves image quality, increases durability, optimizes touch performance and reduces energy consumption.
24/7 operation with high tolerance of peak loads
The fanless FuturePPCs are optionally available with 11th generation Intel Celeron CPUs generation or alternatively with Core i3 / i5 CPUs of the 12th or 13th generation for low-maintenance 24/7 operation. The Panel PCs can be equipped with 4 to 64 GB DDR4L (Celeron) or DDR5 (Core-i) RAM. In the possible RAID operation with two mirrored hard disks, no data is lost even if one of them fails.
The power supply with 9 to 36 volts is particularly tolerant of voltage spikes and is advantageous for control cabinet construction or system producers because it eliminates the need for an additional power supply. Flexible connectivity is provided by HDMI, multiple USB and LAN ports. This can also be used to control another network, such as a sensor or redundancy network. In addition, optional COM port and digital GPIO connections are available for controlling devices. An NFC RFID reader can optionally be integrated into the display frame for user identification. Windows 10/11 (Pro/IoT Enterprise) and Ubuntu Linux are available as operating systems.
“With this variety, control cabinets can be easily modernized.”
The panel PCs of the I series are available in 13 different sizes (from 10.1 to 31.5 inches) and in the formats SVGA & XGA (4:3), widescreen (16:10), full HD (16:9) and 5:4. “With this variety, existing systems, such as control cabinets, can be easily modernized and quickly adapted to higher requirements. Major reconstruction work is not necessary. Specific industry requirements that are programmed for certain monitor sizes can also be easily met,” says Mike Finckh, CEO of Concept International.
IK series with waterproof valve for pressure equalization
The IK series by FuturePPC is even tougher: IP69K-certified, the devices are fully protected, even when free-standing, against steam cleaning and dust. They can even be completely submerged in water without damage. A water-tight valve on the case equalizes the pressure. The devices are rust-, shock- and vibration-resistant (IK07 protection) and have fully encapsulated, waterproof I/O ports (SP13 / M12 or LP24 connectors) on board, which enable optional connections such as HDMI, 2x LAN, 4x USB, 2x COM ports.
The IK series also offers a choice of Intel Celeron, Core i3 or Core i5 CPUs, as well as 4 to 32 GB RAM memory. Windows 10/11 (Pro/IoT Enterprise) or Ubuntu Linux are also available as operating systems. WLAN and Bluetooth are optionally available.
The FuturePPC IK series is available with resistive or PCAP LED touch displays from 12 to 24 inches and a luminosity of up to 1,500 candela per square meter. To minimize reflections in bright environments, to increase image sharpness and contrast, and to ensure even greater stability and durability against shocks, vibrations and scratches, the displays of the IK series can also be equipped with optical bonding on request. Optionally, the IK series is also available with a stainless steel housing.
Availability and on-site service for FuturePPC I and IK
The panel PCs of the FuturePPC I and IK series, from the FuturePPC brand, are now available from the Munich-based VAD. The I series is available in 13 sizes and four formats, with prices starting at 1040 euros (list price), while the IK series starts at 2100 euros (net list price), depending on the specifications. For distribution partners, Concept International offers special terms and services, including roll-out support as part of the Total Preparation Service.
As an option, Concept offers an extended warranty of up to five years instead of the usual two years. In addition, the Germany-wide on-site service can be booked for the devices – as for all hardware from the Concept Future own brands. In a term that usually follows the warranty, Concept guarantees that any hardware problems will be resolved at the end customer’s premises within a maximum of 48 hours. The on-site service applies to the repair of hardware; the repair guarantee does not cover software problems or failures caused by data viruses, for example.
