SUNMI T2s lite: More power for the all-round “workhorse”

Munich, July 20, 2022 – With the “s”, the basic POS system from Sunmi gets a performance update and replaces the predecessor T2 lite at the value added distributor Concept International. The slim Android 9.0 POS solution scores with more power in the areas of CPU, memory and overall performance. The T2s Lite is available now.

The Sunmi T2s lite POS system works with the fast Kryo-260 octa-core processor from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon family. 4 GB of RAM process all inputs swiftly and a lush SSD storage with up to 64 GB keeps all necessary data ready on site without delay.

50/50/150 – these are the booster values compared with the direct predecessor. More precisely: 50 percent more CPU performance, 50 percent more memory and with further improvements 150 percent more overall performance. An advantage that pays off when things get particularly hectic and a large number of items have to be booked in a very short time. An optional card reader for NFC chips and magnetic cards enables fast user authentication for shoppers and employees.

In addition to the standard desktop POS system arrangement, a standard VESA mount allows for wall mounting or mounting on or with a monitor arm.

Designed for operation in distributed systems

Unlike its big sister, the T2s, which has also been retreaded, Sunmi has dispensed with the integrated receipt printer on the T2s lite. This “lite” version therefore does not make existing receipt printers superfluous. It fits seamlessly into distributed systems. In the beer garden, for example, when the receipt is not needed at the POS system but at the counter, and a receipt printer is of course already there.

The displays: Brilliant, tough and available in two versions

The display is a capacitive widescreen for multi-finger gestures with a slim bezel and 15.6 inch screen diagonal (39.6 cm). The Full HD display is even more contrast-rich than its predecessor, so even small images remain legible in poor lighting conditions. This is not only well received in the catering industry, which works with graphic, clear table bookings.

The monitor is insensitive to direct sunlight and can withstand the high temperatures that often occur. In addition, the display is specially protected against electromagnetic interference – nothing and no one sparks here, the image always remains stable.

In addition to the main display (15.6 inches), Sunmi also offers, in the same size or slightly smaller (10.1 inches/25.7 cm screen diagonal), full HD customer displays. These monitors are also capacitive, allowing multi-finger gestures, and can be used for signing. Or for short surveys, product information, PIN codes, commercials, weather info, loyalty programs and special promotions.

“Workhorse” for everyday life on the cutting edge

The operating system of the T2s lite is based on Android 9.0 and thus meets the current industry standard. Android is stable, economical, fast and works seamlessly with other Android systems. Thus, handheld POS systems can work with the same software system and therefore do not require extra training time.

A free and useful tool for end customers and system integrators is Sunmi’s OS 3.0 management software, which can be used to set up, manage and support individual tills or pools of multiple Sunmi tills.

With the software, the T2s family becomes a remotely maintained POS system. This means that central maintenance and update servers are connected, and security and function updates can be carried out easily and automatically in the background. Direct support access to the screen is also guaranteed.

The mandatory Technical Security Equipment (TSE) is enabled on the Sunmi T2s lite via a USB solution, by micro SD card or via the cloud. The TSE stores transaction data in an audit-proof and reliable manner for inspection by the financial authorities.

Connectivity: Everything you need

The T2s lite integrates with the peripherals via a WLAN module (802.11a/b/g/n/ac in dual band operation 2.4 and 5 GHz). The Bluetooth module operates with Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy. A 4G cellular connection via a SIM card is optional. Especially short-term locations like pop-up stores, businesses with large areas like DIY stores or environments with poor WLAN connectivity benefit from this.

All classic interfaces are present: USB Type A (5x), Micro-USB (1x), RJ11 Serial (1x), RJ12 cash drawer (1x), RJ45 LAN (1x) as well as audio, which is reproduced via the integrated high-performance 1.2 watt speakers.

A micro SD slot supports memory cards up to 64 GB. This expansion makes sense for larger software packages, a lot of article data, advertising videos for the customer display or for storing POS data.
The maximum dimension (with second, large customer display) is 430 mm x 382 mm x 215 mm at 4.5 kg.
