Vienna Airport is getting a new DooH flagship: two LED cubes with a pixel pitch of 1.5 millimeters now adorn the arrivals hall. In addition to DooH, exciting animations will also be shown here.
While other international airports have long had large experimental LED screens, they are still rare in German-speaking countries. Now Vienna Airport is cautiously venturing into a special LED format that will show creative commercials as well as emotional content: two new LED cubes were installed in the arrivals hall last week.
With a pixel pitch of 1.5 millimeters, they have the highest resolution of any airport LED in Vienna. The cubes were developed and built by the Austrian service provider Schwingung.at. The LED partner is the Munich-based distributor Concept International with its own brand Future LED. Like all screens at the airport, the new displays run on dedicated software from Grassfish, which also enables programmatic marketing.

Also suitable for forced perspective
According to Hermond Boghosian, who oversaw the project on behalf of the airport, the screens belong to the center management, but there are marketing partnerships with Airport Media. As Hermond Boghosian explained to invidis, they are not only used for advertising purposes, but are primarily intended to appeal to travelers on an emotional level. The idea is also to offer advertisers a space for special presentations, such as forced perspective spots with 3D effects. To demonstrate what is creatively possible, the airport also plans to provide its own content for the cubes in the near future.
In total, Vienna Airport now has 9 LED walls in addition to around 300 DooH screens. The southern expansion planned for 2027 will add many more LED screens, which the airport intends to use to introduce new information display and DooH concepts. Initially, a new LED display is also planned for the arrivals hall.
