The family business Orient Marketingservice is one of the largest Turkish food wholesalers in Europe. Founded by Ayhan Bakan, the company has been shaping the Austrian import market since 1984, distributing established tea brands such as “Karadeniz” and “ECE” and is an important import partner for brands such as GAZI, known for its dairy products. Orient began its success story in a 30m² store. Today, the company offers an extensive range of food and household items for restaurants, companies and individuals alike in its new 3,800 m² cash-and-carry wholesale store in Vienna-Liesing, which opened in October 2023.
Large-scale LED installation for addressing customers
Orient relied on digital signage for its own and product advertising in its new wholesale store. The company opted for a large-scale LED installation in the front area of the sales rooms. Here, a 43 m² LED ticker, a 21 m² LED wall and a 350° clad column now shine as eye-catchers for addressing customers.
The ticker has a width of 16,000 pixels and is operated with a user interface from the Austrian software developer easescreen. That allows drag-and-drop content to be created even for such high resolutions. The LED hardware comes from Turkish supplier Ledeca. Three controllers from Novastar and three digital signage players from Giada provide the high-resolution content for the LED installation.
Powerful digital signage players in booksize format
“We chose Giada digital signage players for the project at Orient because they are durable, very stable in operation and offer excellent value for money. They also enable Windows-based use,” says Gerhard Pichler from Pichler Medientechnik, who was responsible for the project. The devices used were supplied by the Munich-based value-added distributor Concept International, which distributes Giada PCs for German-speaking countries and has been a reliable partner for Pichler Medientechnik for many years.
The Giada D612 digital signage player in the 26 millimeter flat booksize format houses Intel’s powerful 12th generation processors and uses the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics processor (in the Core i5 version). It can play up to four 4K displays (4096 x 2304 @60Hz) via four HDMI 2.0 connections. In addition, the D612 has TPM 2.0 and optional Intel vPro (for the Core i5 variant) to ensure greater stability and more efficient use of resources with integrated performance, data security and management functions. The player is also compatible with the 5G mobile network. With its equipment, the most demanding digital signage experiences can be implemented smoothly and brilliantly.
The family business Orient’s summary of the digital signage system for its new salesrooms is positive all round: “We are delighted with the new installation and have seen a lot of positive feedback from customers,” concludes the project manager at Orient Enes Bakan.
