Concept International has launched a pioneering new product in the form of the FutureAIO: in addition to features such as a retractable 4K webcam and a wireless smartphone charging station, this high-resolution Full HD monitor has an Intel Core i or Core Ultra CPU slot-in module. This makes it the first modular all-in-one PC on the market: if the computer needs to be upgraded or a component replaced, this can be done in just a few simple steps in a maximum of five minutes. With its German-developed AIO under its own Future brand, Munich-based VAD Concept International focuses not only on sustainability but also on special requirements in terms of technology, ergonomics, flexibility, and design—in clinic administration as well as at patient admission in outpatient clinics, at the counter of a doctor’s office, and at the desk in the treatment room.
“Modularity is exactly what the AIO concept has been lacking to date in order to be 100 percent convincing and successful,” says Mike Finckh, Managing Director of Concept International. Until now, all-in-one desktop PCs had to be sent to the workshop or completely replaced in the event of an upgrade or service call. With FutureAIO, the processor module can be replaced directly at the desk in a maximum of 5 minutes, which makes system administrators happy, reduces operating costs, and increases availability and service life—because monitors are typically used for 8 years, while PCs are only used for 3 to 4 years. With the PC module upgrade, FutureAIO can be used twice as long as a conventional PC. This is a major plus in terms of sustainability. “And with a preconfigured CPU in the drawer, even doctors without IT expertise can do it quickly,” says Mike Finckh. The PC module in the SDM standard has connections for USB-C with DisplayPort, four USB 3.2 ports, HDMI 2.1, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, and two WLAN interfaces. It is available with Intel Core i3, i5, i7, or Core Ultra series processors and runs either Windows 11 or Linux as the operating system.
Flexible monitor relaxes the neck
The screen, in the widely used 24-inch format (Full HD, 1920×1080), is height-adjustable and can be tilted flexibly for relaxed working with a straight back and neck. “Design meets posture. The FutureAIO is therefore also a stylish and ergonomic alternative to working on a laptop,” says Managing Director Mike Finckh. The monitor, which can be rotated 90 degrees for portrait mode, has an integrated 4K webcam and stereo HD microphones that are electrically decoupled when retracted. A touchscreen or 27-inch version is also available on request. With the help of three monitor connections, up to four displays can be operated.
Smart features
At the base of the monitor, a wireless charging cradle provides power for your smartphone. The mouse and keyboard are also available as a wireless kit that connects via dongle or Bluetooth. The FutureAIO therefore only needs a power connection and saves up to seven cables. This keeps the workplace tidy and hygienic and also reduces the likelihood of errors by eliminating up to 14 plugs.
Prices and service
The sustainable concept also includes the packaging: it is environmentally friendly and does not contain any plastic. Concept International’s comprehensive service also allows for individual configuration – ranging from the MS Office package to a white housing for use in doctors’ offices or in the medical sector. The recommended retail price starts at €895 for the version with Intel Core i3 and €995 for the Core i5 Performance version with 512 GB SSD and 32 GB RAM. Currently, there is a €100 introductory voucher available for direct orders via the website. With a warranty extension, the warranty can be extended to a total of five years after the manufacturer’s 36-month warranty has expired.
