Munich, November 11, 2022 – The solution from Munich-based VAD Concept International for demanding digital signage where space is tight and convection cooling is not an option is called Giada DK310. In installations under ceiling panels, for example, between two displays or in steles and other installations where no air can circulate. The micro PC (130 mm x 129.3 mm x 25.4 mm) fits almost anywhere. With the latest 6th generation Elkhart-Lake processor, the DK310 enters performance regions that were previously reserved for much more expensive computers. The micro PC is available immediately with either Linux Ubuntu or Windows 10/11.

The tiny DK310 with active cooling is Concept’s price-performance winner for running up to two displays at 4K (4096 × 2160 pixels) at 60Hz. Thanks to the fan, an Intel Celeron processor of the Elkhart-Lake family of the latest, 6th generation with 10 watts TDP can be used. The Atom quad-core works extremely efficiently with 2.0 to 2.6 GHz and reaches the performance of the Core-i models. With 4 GB RAM, the DS player is well equipped for the future, 8 GB are also available for particularly demanding use scenarios. The DK310 is particularly recommended for retailers, the playback of two monitors back-to-back, for example at airports, and modern display steles in the middle of the room.

Flexibility for a long service life

The current Wi-Fi 6 module is plugged in. If the standard changes to Wi-Fi 7, you simply replace the hardware and stay up to date without major investment. This future flexibility plays a role above all because of the particularly long life cycle: The CPU will be available for ten years, and the player should also do its job for just as long and longer. This is especially good news for providers of embedded solutions, who can rely on one model for the long term. The time-consuming and expensive re-certification of new models is skipped and thus the operating costs (“Total Cost of Ownership”) are reduced to a minimum due to the long service life.

Equipment: That lasts!

Four USB 3.2 Gen2 ports and RS232 serial port allow hardware connection of micro-PC and peripherals. Wi-Fi 6 and RJ45 Ethernet ensure the connection to the network. The DK310 communicates with displays via the HDMI port or the display port with contact protection, which reliably prevents a monitor cable from slipping out.

For security, Giada has integrated a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) into the BIOS. Digital certificates are signed with it and security keys are generated, which are stored separately.

Comfort? Check!

Giada’s JAHC technology conveniently ensures continuous performance: RTC (Real Time Clock) for day-specific start and stop times is on board. The watchdog ensures that the computer restarts and loads all applications freshly if the software hangs.
