With the F109D, Giada presents a powerful digital signage player in a compact booksize format – ideal for installation in steles, kiosks, self-service terminals or behind monitors in public spaces. Thanks to the new twin-lake processors, the fanless device offers increased performance combined with high energy efficiency and a good price-performance ratio. The compact booksize computer has gained a good 5 mm thanks to an aluminium cooling fin attachment – but as a result works even more reliably with high power output and completely silently, even in warm and dusty environments, such as behind panels or wall coverings. Munich-based value-added distributor Concept International now has the fanless embedded player for robust 24/7 continuous operation in its range.

The Giada F109D in compact booksize format is barely larger than a paperback book (189.6 x 148.3 x 32 mm) and disappears behind narrow panels and angled covers. VESA brackets facilitate secure mounting. With the introduction of the Twin-Lake CPU generation, more powerful CPUs with OctaCore and up to 3.9 GHz are now also available. This means that the embedded player with the new, energy-efficient Twin Lake processors from Intel is not only completely silent and low-maintenance, but is also suitable for use in dusty environments.

In addition to the brand new N150 and N250 quad-core processors, the new Core 3 N processors N350 and N355 are also available. Both work with eight efficiency cores, i.e. E cores, and a maximum of 3.9 GHz. Furthermore, fast DDR5 memory is used, which benefits the graphics performance in particular. This underlines Giada’s claim to offer as much performance as possible with the F109D as cost-effectively and energy-efficiently as possible.

Three displays, one player – in 4K/UHD at 60 Hz

Two HDMI and one DP connection allow up to three monitors to be played simultaneously in 4K/UHD (max. 4096 x 2160) at flicker-free 60 Hz. In the F109D’s league, there are usually only two digital outputs, not three. The current DDR5 memory can be equipped with 8 to 16 GB, depending on performance requirements. The player also offers six USB slots (2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 and 4 x USB 2.0), two Ethernet RJ45 and two serial COM ports.

Two network connections offer special security: This allows intra- and internet to be cleanly separated and the risk of attacks or data leaks to be sensibly and easily reduced. A slot for a SIM card also enables uncomplicated connectivity via 3G or 4G, even in the digital diaspora. A connection option that is often used in hard-to-reach places, such as free-hanging monitors. An audio input and output for microphone and speakers is also available.

Windows 11 IoT Enterprise or Linux Ubuntu 64-bit are available as operating systems.

Reliable in continuous operation

“Install and forget – the Giada F109D simply runs. With no fan and a relatively dust-proof metal housing that also dissipates heat superbly, the player is robust and durable. It is perfect for long-term use even in thermally demanding environments,” says Mike Finckh, CEO of Concept International.

In addition to the robust components, 24/7 availability is also ensured by Giada’s JAHC technology: this hardware component includes the “watchdog”, which automatically reboots the player and restarts the desired application if faults occur. With RTC (Real-Time Clock), it also enables the PC to be started up and shut down at different times of the day and night.

Availability, price and services

The F109D is now available from Value Added Distributor Concept International for a net list price starting at 390 euros (recommended retail price). Special conditions are available for resellers and system houses on request. Concept International also supports the roll-out of projects with its Total Preparation Service: project-specific, fully configured and endurance-tested devices, even in large quantities.
