Anyone planning an LED wall with stringent fire safety requirements needs more than just high resolution and brilliant image quality. In particular, airports, train stations, public buildings, and high-traffic areas may have strict requirements regarding the fire performance of the LED displays used.
The Leyard VHC-TRANS LED wall, available exclusively from Concept, was developed for such demanding professional installations. A key feature is its A2 fire resistance rating according to EN 13501-1. Additional features include enhanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC Class A), full front installation and front maintenance, and a design rated for up to 100,000 operating hours.
VHC-TRANS thus combines high fire resistance with the requirements of a professional indoor LED wall for digital signage and DooH.
LED Wall with Fire Resistance Class A2 According to EN 13501-1
For large-scale LED walls in safety-critical areas, the fire behavior of the materials and components used plays a crucial role. VHC-TRANS LED modules are classified as A2 according to EN 13501-1. This means the modules are virtually non-combustible and have a very high melting point.
This classification is a crucial selection criterion, particularly when planning LED walls for airports and other public areas with strict fire safety requirements.
The Key Benefits of the VHC-TRANS LED Wall
The VHC-TRANS is particularly well-suited for professional indoor LED projects where fire safety, operational safety, and maintainability play a central role.
Typical applications include airports and terminals, train stations and transportation hubs, public buildings, convention centers, shopping malls, retail and flagship stores, corporate headquarters and reception areas, as well as professional digital signage and DooH installations.
Particularly for projects with heightened fire safety requirements, the A2 classification offers a significant advantage over LED solutions that do not meet these requirements.

The underlying technology:
SMD stands for “surface-mounted device,” a component that is mounted on a surface. In the context of our LED walls, these are the LEDs whose connection pads are soldered directly onto a printed circuit board. The pixels are placed individually—which is clearly noticeable when you run your finger over them, thanks to the rough surface. One advantage: They can be easily repaired or replaced. SMD LEDs are among the smallest light sources in LED technology.
